Sports & Fitness Short Course

Sports & Fitness Provision in North East England

At IB4E, we understand that traditional education doesn’t always meet the needs of every child. That’s why we offer a range of tailored alternative provision courses, designed to help young people thrive in a supportive environment. Our Sports & Fitness Short Course provides a unique opportunity for students to develop both physical fitness and key life skills, preparing them for the future in a way that works for them.

This Short Course comprises seven modules:

  • Sports participation
  • Health, fitness and nutrition
  • Researching sport
  • Sport in the community
  • Coaching and officiating
  • The environment
  • Working in sport

Learners must present evidence of their activities in an organised portfolio or e-portfolio.

This will contain:

  • A record of challenges completed, with supporting evidence for each challenge
  • Recording documents, showing how learners have planned and reviewed their activities
  • Summary of achievement, highlighting skills development
  • Personal statement

Short Courses are widely used in formal and non-formal settings, by 13-19 year olds. Because they are multi-level, the focus is on completing challenges and skills development according to individual ability, although learners are expected to be working at Entry level 3 to Level 1.
